Betowers was born in Ciudad Real, Spain, in 1988. Growing up, she was always surrounded by crayons and pencils, preparing potions with pen marker’s ink, imagining that she was a little witch. Obviously, after reading ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl, she became interested in magical and creepy characters. She was fortunate enough to study art, starting at age sixteen, but it wasn’t until her final year at university that she realized being an illustrator was a viable career option. She likes to draw charismatic characters that children can emphasize with, using humour and powerful colours to create these. If she weren’t making art, she thinks she’d be a teacher or social worker. Other than making her art, she really enjoys making craft toys and going to the cinema. She loves listening to rockabilly and surf rock while she works and, of course, being near her partner in crime, Piña (her wild and sweet cat).
