Call out for New Baby Greeting Card Designs! Jul 26 2013

Advice and call outs

Call Out for New Baby Designs! After the wonderful news of the Royal Birth this week, I thought it would be appropriate to do a call out for New Baby Designs! You can see some of the lovely artwork from some of our talented Illustrators here at Advocate below - the featured works are by Nicola Evans, Lynn Horrabin, Pope Twins, Paula Doherty, Rachel Green, Peter Joseph, Jane Ryder-Gray, Jo Parry, Emma Davis, Dubravka Kolanovic, Martina Hogan, and Julia Seal. Here are some tips to bear in mind when working on New Baby designs! - It is good to do a boy and girl version of a design, and sometimes a neutral that could be for either - Text needs to be in the top 3rd of the card - Stick to 5" x 7" portrait, or square 16cm x 16cm for the size of the artwork - Try and add a bleed of at least 3mm to the artwork - Think of who the card is going to be for and what relationship characters should have on the card. It is usually parents receiving the card, so 2 larger characters, and a new baby, so a smaller character with them - Multiple births - if you are working on a card for twins/new grandparents/new brother/sister - bear in mind who the card is going to and what the appropriate sentiment is within the design It would be great to refresh out Baby designs and get some new artwork in and I can do a specific blog for all of the great new designs that come in to show everyone what we have been up to! As we have just had a Royal Birth, the use of 'Little Prince' and 'Little Princess' on the front of designs may work well, but I would use it in a more general term that something that is too Royal, they need to be able to sell all year round. I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Natasha and the Advocate Team :)
