Roger qualified and worked as an architect in London from 1973 to 1999, producing cartoons in his spare time. In 1999 he became a full-time freelance cartoonist. At the same time he became an Advocate artist.
Self-taught but inspired by the great cartoonists this country has produced. Well travelled and experienced in life and business, Roger has plenty of material for cartoons. He has been producing cartoons about computer aided design which have been printed regularly in the US for over 30 years. Working from his home studio, he produces all work digitally in bitmap format utilising Wacom tablet, MAC and Painter. In addition to the Christmas designs, both stock and bespoke, he supplies through Advocate, he carries out commissions for books, magazines, calendars, commercial and advertising work.
Roger has been published worldwide with collections of cartoons published in the UK, USA and China. He has had one-man exhibitions in the UK, Belgium, Turkey, Poland and the Czech Republic, and been a judge in international cartoon competitions and won prizes in many cartoon contests.
Became UK and international president of the Federation of Cartoonists Organisation for four years, visiting and seeing the work of cartoonists of other countries. He was one of the founder members of the UK’s Professional Cartoonists Organisation.
Originator and chairman of the annual Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival, which started in 2004. At that time it was the only event of its kind in the UK.
Other interests include writing, designing and performing in village shows and playing guitar and singing in a local folk trio.View Full Bio
