Gary Waters Biography Oct 18 2012Meet the artists
Advocate Art would like you to meet freelance illustrator Gary Waters. We love how Gary uses mixed media and collage to create his images. His work would work really well for greetings card design as well as general Art licensing and Art for products. Read on to learn more about Gary, or see more of his work in his portfolio on the Advocate Art illustration agency website. I grew up in a rough, tough, Welsh mining town. At school I was an academic disaster, but thanks to the encouragement of two exceptional art teachers I discovered I could draw, and was fortunate enough to gain a place at the prestigious Royal College of Art. Since leaving Art College I’ve had a pretty varied life and career as a painter, a photographer and now an illustrator. I’ve lived in the U.K. and the U.S.A. and since 1991 in a small rural village in south west France. My work has been published and exhibited internationally. A particular highlight was a solo show in Venice. I remember delivering the paintings one early February morning, loading the work onto a barge as a winter sun rose through the mist on the Grand Canal. If I wasn’t an artist, I don’t know what I would be. I’ve often thought that I could probably make a living as a stand up comic.
