Meet the artists

Elinor Sterry is one of our talented illustrators here at Advocate Art. Her beautiful delicate use of colours and typography make her illustrations perfect for greeting cards. We love her decorative pieces and her handwritten type. Take a look at more of her work on her online portfolio here. I was born in 1992 in Solihull, and still live there. As a child I loved reading and stories from the greats, like Roald Dahl, Maurice Sendak, C.S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkein inspired me and sparked my imagination. I loved drawing and painting, and the passion grew as I got older. I loved sending handmade birthday cards to my friends and when I started my degree in Ba Hons Illustration at Plymouth Uni, I began to hone my skills. I tend to work with more traditional media, (I love my water colours and my gouache!) but I have also learned invaluable skills with the Adobe Suite. I sometimes refer to myself as a designer maker, I love to create nice things for nice people, whether it is an illustrated card, a handmade gift-box or a piece of 3D artwork.   Listening to old jazz and blues records while I work keeps me motivated and a little sing-along with Etta James is the perfect way to get the creative juices flowing!
