We have some beautiful work to share today from our featured artist, Faye Buckingham! We love her superb stylised illustrations and colour palette which makes Faye's work both delicate and elegant. Smart use of typography too, makes her work ideal for greeting cards. See more at her online portfolio!
I grew up in Stourbridge in the West Midlands and have recently returned to live there to follow my dream of being a freelance designer. From an early age I always loved making and creating things, from salt dough animals to chalk pictures on the garden patio.
I studied Surface Pattern at Staffordshire University and graduated in 2005. I was then lucky enough to start my career at Watermark Publishing where I worked my way up to Senior Designer.
I am excited and inspired by so many different things, vintage fabrics, scandinavian folk patterns and packaging are just a few. The work of Celia Birtwell and Jane Ormes really inspire me, along with plenty other amazing designers. My style is a combination of hand drawn and graphic imagery, I love adding lots of texture and playing gorgeous colour combinations. I feel my work is diverse ranging from pretty, girly collage to graphic male typography. I love designing for stationery and will always find it exciting to see my work in the shops, it gives me such a buzz!
In my spare time I can be found baking, jogging, eating ice cream or running around after my cheeky little niece! I also have an unhealthy addiction to pretty necklaces!
