Artist Feature - Sophie Foster Nov 28 2014Latest signings
Meet one of our newly signed artists, Sophie Foster and her fun and bright illustrations! Her charming characters are a welcome addition to the Advocate Art family and we are very excited to see how her portfolio will grow. With a great start in children's publication, we know Sophie will be a great addition to Advocate and a fantastic illustrator to work with.
Sophie is a UK based painter and illustrator. She completed an Illustration degree at the Falmouth College of Art in 2008, where she spent three happy years eating pasties and cursing the seagulls nesting below the kitchen window!!
Sophie works with bold lines, using digital techniques to experiment with colour and pattern. Her illustrations are populated with happy characters who help to bring a subject matter to life. She finds influence in nature and history, and achieves a distinctive style within her work which is playful and humorous!
Sophie lives and works in Bristol, where she has a nice view of the garden. She spends her days drawing, listening to audiobooks, and trying to stop her cat from sitting on her laptop. She enjoys regular trips to the National Portrait gallery where she can often be found perusing the Royal Tudor portraits
Clients include the Mary Rose Society, the Canal & River Trust and the British Postal Museum. Her first book, The Dumpy Princess, was published in 2010. !
