BookExpo America Jun 04 2015

Our lovely Artist Representative, Ryan from Advocate-Art's New York office, was at the BookExpo in America last week. He has been very busy travelling and now recovering from jet lag in our office in Ashtead, UK! Here is what he got up to at the show:

'Oh, Book Expo America (BEA) went so quickly! As the largest North American publishing event, there was a wide array of publishers, from children’s books to academic texts. It was wonderful to wander through Javits Center and spot work by Advocate artists. I had meetings with amazing editors and looked for trends in books coming out this Fall.

Despite the appointments and preparation (imagine rapidly browsing a catalogue in line for coffee, while composing emails to artists), BEA felt like a holiday. I was able to see my publishing mentors from across the country. And the events were celebrations! I lucked into an invitation to see Brian Selznick at the charming Hudson Theater. Selznick is a showman, in the best sense of the word and he presented artwork from his new book, The Marvels. It was a fantastic event during a fantastic week to be in publishing. I’m excited for BEA in Chicago next year!'
