Artist Feature - Jacqueline East Sep 10 2015Latest signings
We have gorgeous watercolour children's book illustrations to share with you today from another of our fantastic new talents, Jacqueline East. Her portfolio is full of sweet, cuddly creatures and playful scenes, all beautifully and carefully painted using traditional methods. We look forward to seeing lots more from Jacqueline and in the meantime you can head to her online portfolio to see all her work.
Jacqueline knew from a very early age that she was destined to be an artist; one of her first, famous pieces being a small witch engraved on her mother’s sideboard at the age of 5. Since then she has continued to draw and paint every day, making it official by obtaining a BA in Graphic Design and MA in Illustration at Falmouth. Here she worked in a caravan by the sea, and before that she had a studio above a chocolate factory!
When asked “What is her inspiration?” she replies, “Everything I see!” Although it’s obvious from her work that nature and animals are her passion, depicted with warmth, energy, sense of humour and great composition.
She enjoys walking and keeping a sketchbook and has a big love of dance, having danced with various samba bands for 11 years. If she weren’t an illustrator, she would have been a dancer, costume maker, photographer, gardener, working to rid the world of plastic waste ( she is a member of The Marine Conservation Society ), or nomad.
