Our featured artist of the day is new artist Dave McTaggart! His work ranges from decorative to playful which is why it'd be great for greeting cards as well as children's books. To see more of his work visit his Advocate portfolio here.

"I'm Dave McTaggart and I'm originally from Liverpool in the UK, now living in London. If I wasn't an illustrator I'd be a footballer, but as I can control a pencil better than a ball I probably made the right choice.

I studied illustration at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where I was taught by Quentin Blake, amongst others. He, along with Ronald Searle and Maurice Sendak, made the biggest impression on me as I was developing my art.

I now have a young, fresh style which I like to think is imbued with a gentle humour and I hope one day to illustrate my own version of The Wind in the Willows, the wonderful novel that first sparked my love of children's books.

I really hope you like looking at my pictures!"
