ITSme Mentorship Success Stories Jul 04 2024

Meet the artists

Advocate Art is proudly partnered with the ITSme Society, and through the success of the ITSme Learning Illustration Mentorship Program, Advocate is welcoming some incredible illustrators into the roster.

Let’s welcome Rosie Edwards, Jimena Sanchez Sarquiz, Judy Wilson and Kaynat Zehra! Four artists, who bring their own fresh approach to the Picture Book, Board Book, Middle Grade and Non-Fiction genres.

Scroll through the photos to meet our newest fab four and see the winning pieces which secured them representation. All of our new additions are available, and are buzzing to work with you! Like what you see? Click through to their full portfolios below, or reach out to an agent to discuss new projects!

Below, you can read about how their journey has been since joining our agency.

"Taking part in the mentorship was a really positive experience that opened the door to the next chapter in my career. I learned from industry professionals what stood out in my portfolio, and Bhavi’s helpful feedback pushed me to create my best work and set a new standard for myself whilst remaining true to my creative voice. I’m excited to be a part of the Advocate team because there are opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects and so many avenues to explore with the help of supportive agents. I am already working on projects with Hachette, Our World My Roots and Igloo Books, which I am super excited about!"

"The ITSme mentorship was one of the best thing’s I’ve done for my career. I was amazed when my mentor was able to go through my portfolio and identify the the pieces that most represented my personality. She then encouraged me to bring more of myself to my work in a way that clients would find appealing. I was very fortunate to have been signed at Advocate after my mentorship ended. Being part of an agency has allowed my work to reach clients I couldn’t even imagine. I’m happy to be currently working on some really fun projects, including a chapter book for Auzou Swiss."

"My experience in the mentorship program with ITSme was great. My mentor was especially helpful in guiding me to create new portfolio pieces for publishing and licensing. I am excited for all my future projects and am thankful to all the people involved, both ITSme and Advocate. I am currently working on a project with Flowerpot Press."

"Going through this mentorship helped me experience what it's like working with an agent one-to-one. It also helped me understand what exactly I would require to improve my portfolio. The constant guidance from my mentor not only helped me improve my work but also gave me the confidence to work in an agency! I look forward to working on projects that I am passionate about with Advocate!"
