Today we're welcoming and sharing one of our newly signed artist's to the Advocate family, Rebecca Humphreys. Sweet and fun illustrations with strong compositions and subtle colours make up Rebecca's portfolio which are perfect for greeting cards and art licensing. Go here to see more of her lovely work!

I grew up in a small village outside of Scunthorpe and moved to Epsom in Surrey at aged 18. I now reside in Kingston Upon Hull and have done for the past 3 years.

My Uncle, who is extremely creative, was a big inspiration for me. We spoke for hours about art, I remember being slightly obsessed by Vincent Van Gogh around the age of 9.

I undertook a BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design and an A level in Fine art at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe before undertaking a BA(Hons) in Fashion Promotion and Illustration at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Epsom, Surrey.

I couldn’t tell you one person that inspires me the most as my taste is rather eclectic and varied. Environments inspire me the most in my own work, im drawn to sitting by water or listening to music.

I would describe my artwork as fun, Colourful, Playful with sometimes a hint of naivety.

I have two ways of making Art. The first is solely digital where I use a mixture of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The second is hand drawn linework and textures that are scanned in and manipulated digitally. I also like creating textures digitally too.

I took time out after completing my degree to gain work experience in other industries that gave me valuable life experience and business skills. This time also gave me the ability to develop in to the type of artist I wanted to be. Along the way I dabbled with my Art as well as engaged in Community Arts. I’m now back and mean business.

I won an award from the Royal Society of Public Health for a Community Art Group I run. I have to date, not received any awards for my own art. But I am open to offers.

I have done a lot of Voluntary work over the years and always like to keep my hand in doing something with Charity and Vulnerable People.

If I wasn't an illustrator I'd probably be running my own Shop full of quaint, decadent and ornate objects that I want to buy for myself.
