Introducing: Harry Bloom Apr 22 2020Meet the agents
Advocate Art is excited to introduce another talented artist agent! Harry grew up in Warwickshire, a stone's throw from the 'Heart of England' but now lives and works in leafy South London as part of our UK office. Graduating from the Illustration course at the University of Brighton in 2011 he quickly moved to London to pursue a career in the arts. After a stint in fashion management he went into full time freelance illustration and ended up collaborating with clients from around the Globe on projects from Apps to Advertising as well as releasing his own series of Children's Books.
Harry has a particular interest in storytelling, artistic process and children's publishing and looks after Advocate's clients in the UK and also abroad in Australia and New Zealand. We asked him a few questions about his role below:
Why did you become an Illustration agent?
I had a good stint as a freelance illustrator and loved what I did but after a while I fancied a change and a new challenge. I knew I wanted to remain part of the industry and hoped that the skills I’d learnt in my own practice could help out other artists and clients in the Industry.
What do you love most about the role?
I really enjoy being part of a wider creative community. Working with fantastic artists, designers and publishers is hugely rewarding and I relish the opportunity to help make their projects come to life!
What do you hope to accomplish here at Advocate?
I want to help champion new artists and bring together great illustrators with great clients. There's a lot of fantastic work out there that deserves to be seen and a lot of great projects that are just waiting to take off!
What have you been up to recently?
Last month I jetted off down under and spent a few weeks meeting up with Advocate Art’s Australian clients. It was really great to catch up with everyone over there; friends and clients both old and new! There's some fantastic work coming out of the country right now so it was great to have the chance to have a chat and show our portfolio's to the people behind it all. Thanks for having me!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Currently? Growing my veg patch to get me through the lockdown. I also have a few personal illustration projects I like to dip into when I have time. Otherwise food, wine, movies, history and countryside walks that end in a pub - is there anything better?
