Maria Lia is an illustrator and concept artist from Italy.
Originally a self-taught artist, she grew up with Disney movies, Italian comic books (W.I.T.C.H., Corto Maltese, Dylan Dog) and Japanese anime (the work of mangaka Rumiko Takahashi and the inspiring imagination of Hayao Miyazaki), the mix of which helped develop her own style.
She spent most of her formative years in England, gaining her BA in Magazine Publishing from the University of the Arts London, and then working and travelling in Asia.
She has worked in several industry fields as a graphic designer, animator and concept artist, always feeling compelled to tell stories through pictures, be it in the form of a short movie or a videogame.
She is now based in Turin, where she lives with Muta, a small raccoon dog from China, and works as a concept and story artist in animation and gaming.
