Philadelphia based artist, Melissa Castillo's work is inspired by cats and her Peruvian culture. She graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and majored in Illustration. Through university, Melissa's illustrations have been published in the Underground Pool and the Visiting Writers Series. She has received multiple awards, including the Emerging Content Creators Scholarship, the Phyllis Purves Smith Award, L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators or the Future Honorable Mention Award, and the Art Scholarship Award from her university. Melissa’s hope as a Hispanic illustrator is to create artwork surrounding her Peruvian and broader Latin culture.
