Artist feature - Patrick Brooks Jan 11 2016新簽約的插畫家
A very warm welcome to our new talented illustrator Patrick Brooks! His lovely illustrations have a great atmosphere and are full of cute and fluffy memorable characters. See more of his creations for children's books, by clicking here, on his Advocate's portfolio. But first, a few words from the artist himself:
"I was born in Yorkshire, UK and from an early age had a deep interest in art and drawing. Watching cartoons and anime were an influence, as was my grandfather Brooks, a painter. I studied Art to degree and now primarily work digitally. I’ve used Photoshop for 15 years and am mostly self-taught. A Neil Gaiman ‘The Wolves in the Walls’ book signing in 2004 inspired me to focus on children’s books. For many of my illustrations I like working with light and shadow, and often try to create a dreamlike atmosphere. Faith, dreams, spirituality and nature inspire me, as do illustrators Mary GrandPré , Brett Helquist and many others I’ve discovered on social media. I’m also a writer and have two YA books in development: one featuring a talking ghost cat, the other a cyborg guinea pig. I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy films and listen to chillout music when illustrating."
