Katie Saunders is a freelance illustrator who specialises in Children Book's Illustration.

Katie grew up in Stittingbourne in Kent, surrounded by rabbits (as her dad bred them). She would cart them around in her doll's pram and dress them up. In her own little world she would spend hours drawing and making up stories. From a young age she had the creative madness that only Illustrators have.

Katie was encouraged by incredible and inspiring teachers that recognised her talent. She graduated from her Illustration degree with a 1st class degree. Katie's style is fun bright and colourful that has been used in many children's book as well being used for greetings cards and she has been a vital part to the design of toys, games, gifts and ceramics.

These days her inspiration comes from her two children, they make her realise how important children books are, and it is immensely satisfying to read her own children's books with them.

Katie's style is a mixture of fabric scans, pencil, line drawing and collage. She works from the ethos that anything can be used from an old button to her children's drawings. She strongly believes that its really important too try new methods of picture creation to keep developing as an artist.

In Katie's spare time you can find her with her children, and her three cats (Dizzy, Pickle and Pumpkin) in the countryside near Sittingbourne feeding farm animals. Her favourite books are Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffers.
