Hello! I'm Amanda Ruiz Alba (also known as Moraima) a freelance illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Nottingham, UK. I create playful, vibrant designs with bold colours, quirky characters, and whimsical details inspired by nature, storytelling, and everyday life. I work with both hand-drawn and digital techniques, and my experience spans everything from greeting cards and gift products to kids’ fashion and trend books. Drawing on my Spanish roots, I love bringing warmth, personality, and a little bit of magic to my work, always aiming to make designs that bring joy and spark curiosity.
My passion for art stems from a childhood captivated by magical illustrations, with influences ranging from Faeries by Brian Froud to Witch's Handbook by Malcolm Bird. Graduating with a Fine Arts degree from the University of Granada and an Illustration diploma from the School of Arts in Málaga, I bring a wealth of creative experience to every project. Clients appreciate my friendly nature, reliability, and ability to deliver fresh, joyful designs that align perfectly with their vision. Whether crafting Christmas designs or diving into kids' fashion projects, I approach each endeavor with a perfect blend of creativity and professionalism.
Beyond the artistry, I find inspiration in the world around me - from exploring new cultures during my travels to enjoying simple moments with my family on Sundays. As a mother of two daughters, I cherish the connection we share through our mutual love for drawing. Ultimately, I aspire to create art that leaves a lasting impact, prompting viewers to pause and reflect, much like the enchanting illustrations that sparked my artistic journey. Join me on this colorful adventure where creativity knows no bounds!
