Peter McGowan was born and raised in Yorkshire, England where he still lives with his wife and children. He paints from his studio in the county which has inspired many great artists. Peter is fascinated with light and its effects, exploring this in his work. He works in several media including oils, acrylics, watercolors, and pastels. Peter has been influenced by the works of Corot, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and William de Kooning. His early career was characterized by abstract and semi-abstract paintings. While his style has evolved to the more traditional and is strongly influenced by his career as a textile designer, his paintings still start as abstracts.
