Hola! I'm Desiree Gneco, a Dominican artist passionate about creating art that tells stories and includes intricate details. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, I draw inspiration from my Afro-Latina roots and a lack of representation in media. Using digital tools like Clip Studio Paint and a Huion Kamvas tablet, I specialize in creating lineless, textured art, with a knack for illustrating captivating night scenes. My art is all about representation, POC characters, and hidden details, like Easter eggs, that enrich the storytelling experience.

Winner of the OXFAM contest on illustrating inequality, my work has been showcased in exhibitions such as "Expresiones de Papel" and "Ilustra la Desigualdad." With a background in Illustration from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo, I have illustrated for UNICEF LATAM, focusing on creating accessible art for children with low visual impairment. Clients appreciate my expressive characters, blending tenderness, humor, and emotion seamlessly. Known for my attention to color, composition, and storytelling, I bring consistency, detail, and emotion to every project, earning praise for my collaborative and creative approach.

When I'm not creating art, I enjoy exploring Pinterest and picture books for inspiration. After a relaxing meal with my family post-church, you can find me drawing on my iPad while watching a series or movie. My ultimate goal is to be an artist who champions representation for minorities, ensuring that every child sees themselves reflected positively in the media. With three beloved senior dogs by my side, Luna and Fresa, I pour my heart and soul into my art, aiming to make a lasting impact through creativity and inclusivity.
