Hey there! I'm Esther Hernando, an artist from the vibrant city of Barcelona, Spain. My art style is all about creating expressive characters with a playful and storytelling twist. I love infusing personality and emotion into my illustrations, making them come alive through gestures and expressions. Whether I'm working digitally or traditionally, I always aim to give my pieces a warm, handmade feel that sets them apart.
In my creative journey, I've had the honor of illustrating books that have been recognized for their excellence. Titles like "Mr. Mintz’s Blintzes" and the "Maggie Sparks" series have been celebrated by esteemed institutions, showcasing my ability to bring stories to life visually. One project that holds a special place in my heart is "The Time Keepers," an 8-book series with DK that not only taught me about historical events but also allowed me to infuse humor and famous characters into the narrative.
When I'm not immersed in the world of art, you can find me indulging in my love for movies. Children's films have influenced my artistic journey. I find inspiration in classics from Disney and Pixar, along with adventure movies and beloved series from my childhood. Beyond art, I cherish moments spent with my partner and our furry companions, my dog Dobby and my cat Ninu. Together, we enjoy leisurely walks, cozy movie afternoons and exploring new creative endeavors. My ultimate goal is to spread warmth, humor and heart through my illustrations, leaving a lasting impact that brings joy and emotion to all who encounter my work.
Mr. Mintz Blintzes has been included in Bank Street College of Education's 2023 Best Children's Books of the Year. (apples and honey press).
