Hi! I’m Heidi Teremetz, an illustrator from the Dorset coast, where I still live and work. I mix traditional and digital techniques - mostly gouache and coloured pencil - to create work inspired by nature and the slower, more seasonal side of life. Living between the beach and the New Forest keeps me endlessly inspired, and my background in graphic design means I love playing with colour, form, and pattern to create worlds that feel current but also beautifully nostalgic!
I was awarded Highly Commended by the Macmillan Prize while studying Illustration at Arts University Bournemouth. People often describe my work as warm, sensitive, and nostalgic - I love to balance emotion and tenderness with a sense of fun to keep stories engaging for children!
I’m always sketching from life, and while digital tools are part of my process, it’s traditional media that gives my work its warmth and personality. Some of my favourite books as a child were illustrated by Eric Carle - rich, textural jewel tones and collaging was something I could just spend so long looking at! My ideal Sunday would be a coffee to go, a long walk with my girlfriend, then a home cooked meal (bonus points for Sunday roast) and cuddles with my cats, Lola and Suki. My aim is to make the everyday feel more magical. ✨
