Hello, I'm Ang Hui Qing, a digital illustrator and VisDev artist hailing from Malaysia, now based in Bristol, UK. My work is characterized by a textural style bursting with atmospheric mood and lively characters. My main passion is telling stories with color and characters, particularly with elements of nature. From children's books, comics, editorials to games and animation, I have worked in a great variety of fields.
It was a great joy to contribute two pieces to Quindrie Press' "When I Was Me," which earned Broken Frontier's 2021 Award for Best One-Shot Anthology. The children's book written by Laura Kate Dale which I illustrated, "Me and My Dysphoria Monster," garnered recognition by being longlisted for the Diverse Book Awards 2023 and clinching the second spot in the Fan Voted Readers' Choice Awards 2023. Beyond work for clients, I've also tabled at events like Thought Bubble, London Comic Con, Plymouth Comic and Zine Fair, and more. I have been acknowledged for high-quality work, quick turnaround, and a collaborative approach that goes beyond expectations.
I have a deep love of fantasy & sci-fi, anime, manga and literature. In my spare time I also head out into nature for walks, hikes and wildlife-spotting, whether it be local or farther afield. My art seeks to explore the fantastical in the mundane, and the mundane in the fantastical. If I am able to highlight the beauty of nature, advocate for those in need, or just help a team on a project through my work, it would be a most welcome opportunity.
