Hi, I'm Katie Abey, an illustrator of sarcastic, sassy and colourful characters based in Derbyshire. With over 70 books under my belt, I bring a humorous twist to my work that's both eye-catching and relatable. Alongside my talented fellow weirdo of a husband, I also run Punnydukes, a magical shop we created together. It truly is an escape from reality filled with everything from a real Tardis, to faeries, phoenixes, giant owls and even a Zoltar. Next door in our Room of Enchantment I also host creative wellbeing events with my magical friend. As a highly sensitive empath and a proud advocate for trans and LGBTQ+ rights, I try to always infuse my art with love and inclusion.
In 2024, I scooped up a prestigious Lollies award which was brilliant! One of my proudest moments was contributing to the Ant and Dec book "Propa Happy," adding my unique touch of crazy to their world. Armed with a BA Hons in Graphic Design and a never-ending well of quirky ideas, I sketch out roughs in my notepad before bringing them to life with vibrant colors.
Beyond the pages of my illustrations, I am a sparkly soul who finds solace in adventures, exploring nature, reading, and very-intense-crafting with my brilliant yet mildly feral daughter. My journey from being dismissed as 'too sensitive' has ended up with me using that very sensitivity to connect with others and I strive to live vibrantly and inspire others to do the same.
