Hello, my name is Lynne Hardy. I grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona, and now live in Orem, Utah. I’m a Diné woman, and my art is colorful, vibrant, and rooted in my Navajo people and culture. I create illustrations on my iPad and through painting, often beginning with a story or experience that reflects joy, resilience, and the strength of my community. I’m inspired by my ancestors and driven by authenticity, Native representation, inclusion, and the responsibility to help preserve our stories while challenging harmful stereotypes.

I’m part of the Native American series in the Google Chrome Theme Store, a participant in the Visa Empowerment Card Initiative, a book illustrator, and a contractor for the Navajo Breastfeeding Coalition. One of the works I’m most proud of is a series of paintings for the Urban Indian Center in Salt Lake City, created to represent the tribes of Utah and their relationship to the land. Clients connect with my honesty, consistency, and passion for diversity and inclusion, and they return because I bring bright, story-filled work to life with care and accuracy. My time at BYU–H, where I was accepted into the Graphic Design program, helped shape the design skills I use in my freelance work today. My process starts with sitting with an idea, writing it down, sketching, researching, and only adding color once everything feels right.

As a child, I loved illustrated books, and artists like Eleanor Schick and Shonto Begay inspired me to create from my own perspective and share my own stories. When I’m feeling burnt out, I pray for guidance and stay open to the quiet moments where inspiration finds me. I also love taking trips and connecting with local artists to learn what moves them. Outside of art, I spend Sundays with family, cuddling my nieces and nephews, going to my favorite restaurants, and playing basketball with friends in the evening. More than anything, I hope to be remembered as a supportive, understanding person, a comforting presence, the best auntie I can be, and a changemaker in my community.
