Hello, I'm Tessa Sheehan, an illustrator based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK. Growing up in the birthplace of the Bronte sisters fueled my creativity, leading to a style that's dedicated to detail, magical, and nostalgia. I love bringing different characters to life in my own unique style. Passionate about mental health, LGBTQ+ rights, and diversity in children's media, I believe in inclusive illustrations that reflect and empower all individuals.

One of my proudest moments was illustrating the Swan Lake book for Miles Kelly, fulfilling a childhood dream. Coming from an animation background, I love creating an entire scene in one single picture, combining my fine art and animation knowledge to create the needed mood, or giving a well-known character or public figure an animated twist. Starting with basic roughs, I refine sketches with references before diving into my favorite part-colouring. Adding details like lighting and sparkles brings my illustrations to life, infusing them with magic.

Fairytales and childhood animations like Disney are my main inspirations, as well as the countryside where I live. Walks into woodlands and moor areas provide settings for my work, while books on magical realism influence my creations. When not illustrating, I enjoy playing Sims, crafting, and spending time with my daughter, a spirited tortoiseshell cat named Peggy. My art reflects my passions for inclusivity, storytelling, and love of all things magic and whimsical, aiming to bring joy and magic to all who see it.
