Hello, je m'appelle Violaine Costa, and for the past decade, I have been immersed in the world of children's illustration. from Bastia, Corsica, and currently residing in Annecy, France, my artistic realm exudes tenderness and whimsy. Working predominantly on a large scale, I initially sketch everything in pencil before infusing vibrant colors using Photoshop or opting for traditional mediums. Infusing my creations with elements from my extensive travels and cherished collectibles, my visuals are teeming with intricate patterns and tiny characters that weave narratives, adding layers of depth.

My practice reflects my emotions, habits, and the prevailing season, always containing a fragment of my cherished home that I love imparting to others. My artistic journey has seen notable milestones, including clinching the Readers' Prize 2024 for "LE voyage de la Goutte d'eau" at the Ramparts of Grimaud, published by Hatier. Additionally, I have showcased my work at the Comic Book Festival in Bastia alongside luminaries like Rebecca Dautremer and Winshluss in 2017, with several other smaller exhibitions across France. Whether it's the heartfelt book "Comme c'est doux de faire la paix" or the engaging poster designed for a Paris book fair, each creation resonates with my essence. Collaborative ventures ignite my passion, fostering convivial exchanges and enduring connections, underpinned by professionalism and camaraderie that elevate every project.

As the youngest in my family, a late bloomer to many revelations, my penchant for solitude and literature, ensconced in cozy makeshift havens, has profoundly shaped my artistic identity. Illustrations, for me, serve as a sanctuary, a conduit to recreate a comforting refuge. Beyond art, I find solace in exploration, be it traversing museums or relishing the simple pleasures of cafe ambiance. Wrapped in a snug blanket, savoring tea and treats while listening to the pitter-patter of rain, I find tranquility. Complemented by the presence of my two feline companions, Raspoutine the black Persian, and Forrest Gump the Main Coon, my life is a harmonious blend of creativity, introspection, and cherished moments of serenity.
