Meet the artists

"Hi, my name is Marie and I have lived in the Somerset town of Glastonbury for the past 15 years or so. I love nature which is where I get the inspiration for my artwork. I started out as an artist-blacksmith, my metal designs consisted of the abstracted forms and sinuous curves and lines of nature, I then progressed to fine art botanical illustration. My large scale, watercolour botanicals have been exhibited widely including The Royal Watercolour Society, The Mall Galleries and The Royal West of England Academy.

Living on the Somerset Levels I also developed an interest in painting the local birdlife. I tend to use watercolour and work in a realistic style, although I have recently branched out using more painterly styles, it is very exciting loosening up my way of working and experimenting more with colour and different mediums.

When I’m not painting you will find me exploring the countryside, festivals, museums and galleries with my children."
