Artist Review - Steven Wood Mar 24 2022

This month we are highlighting the great portfolio of illustrator Steven Wood! Being an illustrator for over 10 years, Steve has been able to work on a wide range of products including; board books, puzzles, activity books, picture books and more recently, children's chapter books. Having such a great range, Steve’s work has been able to reach a global audience.

“I’ve been lucky enough to work on different products across different territories and languages. Advocate has been great at finding me new and exciting projects in the U.S, Belgium, Spain and South Korea.”

Of the many projects he has worked on, there are a few that have stuck out to him. One he is particularly proud of is the beautiful book Xtraordinary People

“I was really proud to be involved in a Xtraordinary People - a book published by Made by Dyslexia. I’m dyslexic myself, and could see how a book like this would have meant a lot to me growing up.”

Steve is also excited for his newer works such as the city guide to the main cities in Belgium - Cherche et Trouvé Géant - for Auzou.

“I loved working on this book, each spread was huge, which was a great challenge to fill and keep fun and lively. Plus it really made me want to travel to all the featured cities.”

It is great to see the development and expansion of Steve’s work over the years.

“I’ve been with Advocate for over 10 years, and they’ve been great in opening the door to different types of work. Especially at the moment in helping me move into more children’s fiction illustration! I’m really excited to develop that this year.”

We're also excited to see what Steve comes up with this year. He is truly a great asset to the Advocate team!
