Inside the Surviving Saturday Book Signing Event Apr 14 2026

Meet the artists

For this month's story, we're celebrating Surviving Saturday—a beautiful book written by Stevie Peters and illustrated by our talented illustrator Zoe Hansen.

This lovely book follows Momma, Wally, and his sisters as they try to handle soccer games, cleaning the house, and no chocolate chip pancakes?! The story is centred around the theme of teamwork, combined with laughter and a big dose of kindness. As the story progresses, the family learns that working together to survive the day can actually be fun.

Early last month, Zoe was invited to an event celebrating the book she helped bring to life. Zoe met with the author, Stevie Peters, at Bookery Manchester for a reading and book signing! The book is published by Miriam Laundry Publishing and was managed by Advocate Agent, Atlanta Japp.

We asked Zoe her thoughts on working on such a lovely title. Here's what she had to say:

One thing I really loved about working on this book was getting to work with the author to bring all the characters to life. I loved getting to show so much emotion between all the characters, and getting to show the life of a family working together through divorce was very inspiring. It was a story I feel should be told, as many children go through it, and I was honored to have the opportunity to illustrate it.

The event was set up by the author of the book, Stephanie DePietro, who goes by the pen name Stevie Peters. She contacted her local book store in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA called "The Bookery Manchester" to do an author reading and an illustrator and author book signing. Local children attended and enjoyed both the reading and craft time after the reading.
