Hello, I'm Lisa Alderson, a traditional artist originally from Burnley, Lancashire, now nestled in a village near York, Yorkshire. With over 20 years of freelance illustration experience, I specialized early in Natural History and Scientific Illustration before branching into many diverse areas of illustration, infusing my art with a touch of magic. My creative process typically involves watercolor and pencil before sometimes adding digital finishing touches, showcasing my keen eye for detail honed during my degree. When not immersed in my art, you'll find me lost in audiobooks, whipping up baked delights, or weaving through craft projects, along with spending time with my family.

My journey as an artist includes the prestigious Royal Horticulture Society Silver Guild award. One of my proudest achievements was contributing to the 'Why We Need' series for Sourcebooks, where I had the pleasure of refining a new artistic style with their fantastic team's support. Renowned for my versatility and soft, detailed aesthetic, I hold a BA(Hons) degree in Scientific and Natural History Illustration from Blackpool and the Fylde College. My creative process unfolds with meticulous planning, from thumbnail sketches to hand-drawn roughs, culminating in vibrant artworks on watercolor paper.

Inspired by the legendary Beatrix Potter, I draw creative energy from everything and everywhere. When not lost in my artwork, you can spot me exploring the outdoors, concluding my day with a cozy family pizza-and-cartoon ritual shared with my twins and crazy dog, Hobbes. I aim to infuse every brushstroke with passion and purpose, inviting viewers to embark on a whimsical journey through the wonders of nature and imagination.
